Youtuber FunGowRightNow12 and his classmates at Northeastern University have created a game of chess that lets you play against someone across the globe. This is already possible by playing chess via an online game, or simply sending your friend your move choice, and they can update positions on their own board. However, this sort of sucks the fun out of the game.
This board however uses an XY motor with a magnet to move pieces around the board, so when you have made your move, your opponents pieces automatically update. This even applies to taken pieces where they wander off the board. Everything has been though out, including obscure moves such as castling and en passant, and incorrect moves.
