Most Guitar Hero mods add LEDs or custom paint jobs. FireHero goes in a very different direction: it turns the five fret buttons into controls for five separate flame outputs.
The project, shared on Instructables, uses an Arduino-based control setup to read the guitar inputs and trigger relays. Those relays switch solenoid valves connected to propane "fire poofers", so each note press can create a matching burst of flame.
What makes the build interesting is that it treats the whole setup like a playable instrument rather than a fixed effect sequence. Instead of a pre-programmed pyrotechnic timeline, the visuals respond live to what the player is doing on the controller.
From a build perspective, this is a hybrid project: part controller interface, part high-current switching, and part mechanical gas plumbing. The electronics concept is quite approachable, but the real complexity comes from making the physical flame system reliable and safe.
If you want to see how it was put together, the full guide is on Instructables. As with any fire project, treat it as an advanced build and only attempt it with proper safety controls and outdoor testing.
