As well as announcing the Arduino Yún at the Maker Faire, Arduino also announced the Arduino Robot. This is the first Arduino product not centred around a single microcontroller board. The robot, designed in collaboration with Complubot, features 2 round boards complete with an ATmega32u4 on each.
The top board sports a colour LCD screen, a speaker, a compass, a microSD slot plus some LEDs, buttons and a knob. The bottom board houses the 4 AA batteries, a pair of wheels and motors, and some infrared sensors. All of this fits in a tidy package that's about 10cm high, and 19cm wide.
The Arduino Robot comes with prototyping area on each board, enabling further additions such as sensors and motors, and has pre soldered connections for connecting components easier. The robot looks an interesting introduction to robotics, and will be available in July.
