Toa Mata Band – Musical Lego Men

- by - in Music

Arduino robot projects are quite impressive. How about an army of Lego robots making music? That’s what Italian music producer Giuseppe Acito has done. The Toa Mata Band is a ‘band’ of Arduino powered LEGO Bionicles who can play various musical instruments. They play drums, stylophones, glockenspiels and even a Korg Kaoss FX  pad!

The robots are controlled by an iPad with the step-sequencer app Clavia NordBeat. The notes from the app are converted to electrical impulses and control the various mototrs attached to the members of the Toa Mata Band, which strike the instruments and drum pads.
